Being an enviro school is a waste of time.

What do you think? Why do you think that?

  1. We strongly disagree because Pakuranga Heights School is already an enviro school and there is no point of stopping. If P.H.S does stop being an enviro school then we have to stop having waste free Wednesdays, our waste, paper recycled and worm bins will be taken away which won't be good for our compost and vegetable garden. 1. This is a quality comment, Nathan and Habibah. You have voiced your opinion and then justified it. You have thought deeply and given good support to your position. How could we improve our enviro action throughout the school?

    2. That is a quality comment you have made some good reasons because you said that we would stop having waste free wednesdays and we couldn't have a compost bin.

  2. We strongly agree because when we are picking up rubbish it is wasting our learning time. We have seen other school children dropping their rubbish on Pakuranga Heights School grounds. Most of the time we have to pick up their rubbish. So why should we pick up after others?

  3. We agree to this statement because our class picks up everyones rubbish, its a waste of our learning time. Why should we be picking up rubbish? - Elise and Caleb.

  4. We agree, because people always dump their rubbish in Pakuranga Heights School instead of putting it in the bin so we have to pick it up for them, when we still have to pick it up ourselves!
Also that if Pakuranga Heights School is a waste free school it's not like we are changing the whole
    world.

  5. We strongly disagree and strongly agree because if we go and pick up rubbish students will still throw their rubbish on the ground. But if we decide to be an enviro school and we commit to it than we could make a difference, and we could make our nature trail all throughout the school.
How do you think we could make a difference in our school?

    1. Hi Kita and Zach,
we think that we can make the school a better place by just making a nature trail nearby the back of the field, not through the whole school maybe.

We strongly disagree because if we leave rubbish around the school and when it rains it will go down the drain and out to sea, so the sealife might think its food and they will eat it and they will die. Secondly If we put rubbish in the bin, it will go to the landfill and let out toxic gases and kill the birds. Lastly if we leave rubbish around the school our school will be filled with bugs and ants.

    1. Good thinking! You have made a good point, and have given three great reasons about the topic. I think that is sad because all that waste came from us and has caused a very big problem. What do you think we could do to change our school?

  7. We strongly agree that being a enviro school is a waste of time because if we keep on having waste free Wednesday and lunches it still goes to the landfill because you will throw the rubbish away at home. If we become a enviro school and pick up rubbish people will still litter and it wastes our learning time in class. Once we are older we won't have a good job because at school all we did was care about the environment and we didn't get a proper education.

  8. We strongly agree with this statement because we are picking up other peoples rubbish when they should pick it up themselves. Also some other students from other schools purposely drop their rubbish on our school ground. If we drop rubbish on the ground and it rains it will go down the drain and go out to the sea and kill all of the sea creatures.

    1. Great work Noah and Jasmine we can see you put a lot of thought into it.We also strongly agree.
What if we were an environmental school?, would it be better?, Then maybe you won't need to pick up rubbish after people.

  9. We strongly agree because intermediate kids throw rubbish away and students at our school should put their rubbish in the bin not chuck their rubbish away. We shouldn't waste our time picking up after people when we could be learning.

We strongly agree because if the world couldn't care less why should we?We are also wasting our learning time picking up rubbish after other people. People are leaving all sorts of rubbish on the floor and we have to clean up after them. Jodi and Steven
